Mindfulness is not another appointment. It hides inside things you already do — coffee, commuting, washing up.

If you have no time to meditate, you need mindfulness woven into the day, not added to it. These micro-practices take under a minute and turn routine moments into tiny retreats.

The first-sip practice

Drink the first sip of your morning coffee or tea with full attention: warmth, aroma, taste. One fully-tasted sip anchors the whole morning more than any affirmation.

Doorway resets

Every time you walk through a doorway, take one conscious breath. Offices, homes and shops are full of doorways — each one becomes a reminder to arrive in the present.

“Peace is not found in an empty schedule — it is practiced inside a full one.”

The evening review

Before sleep, replay the day and name three moments that were actually good. The mind replays threats by default; this gently teaches it to replay the good as well.

Try this week

  • Stack mindfulness onto existing habits
  • Use red lights and queues as breathing cues
  • Put the phone down during the first five minutes home
  • End the day naming three good moments

Busy is not the enemy of mindful — distracted is. One conscious breath, many times a day, is a complete practice.
